Zippy Loom Scarf

Today I'm here to show you how to make a VERY quick and easy scarf using the Zippy Loom! One of my lovely viewers asked about this so I went out and got one to try out. This knitting loom can be used by itself or in conjunction with other pieces that are available for purchase. I only have the 1 piece and it makes short order out of a scarf when combined with some super bulky yarn. For this one, I chose to use Red Heart Grande which is a wool/acrylic blend that's nice to work with. Onto the video!

Finger Weaving / Finger Knitting

Remember when kids were all about rubber band bracelets? Well, these are just as easy and fun for kids to do! The kit I bought calls this finger weaving, but what you're actually doing is finger knitting. You're making a knit fabric that curls up on itself and can be used to make bracelets, belts, headbands and much more! This is really a simple craft and I highly recommend this for kids!

A Little Of This, A Little Of That

So, where have I been? I promise I did not forget about you, blog. I really didn't. I was out of town a lot and had guests not to mention I spent a long time there in September and October using up yarn for the Single Skein Situation challenge.

Speaking of the challenge, it is long over and I managed to get through a LOT of yarn. Not all, but a lot. I'm proud of that fact and I've already sent some of the hats I made to another person on Youtube who was gathering some for her local charity. The rest and some other things I made are going to be dropped off at my local charity this weekend. I did make a few things that will be kept either for my husband and me or to give for gifts this year. I made 2 finished objects videos during that time which you can see here and here.

And today, I uploaded another tutorial video showing how to make a flower on a flower loom. They are really cute, see?

Hm...what else? I did manage to enter most of the KALs I wanted to, but not all. There just wasn't enough time quite frankly. I'm okay with it though. I mean, out of the 18 skeins I had wanted to use. I got through 12. That's a lot for 6 weeks (at least for me, it is).

I have to admit, there weren't a lot of entries in for the prize. In fact, there were only 2 other than myself so I just gifted them both a pattern. I figured that was my way of saying, "Hey you, awesome job. It was just the 3 of us in it together so let's all have a new pattern." I still haven't bought a new pattern for me, but I think I might just buy myself a book.

I have bought some things. I bought a couple new spindles and a couple of project bags. I've only received 1 spindle so far. I've already managed to get through a couple of ounces of fiber on it though so that's exciting!

Easy Loom Knitted Hat With A Brim

I've had a lot of requests for more loom knitted tutorials so I'm back with another one! This loom knitted hat with a brim is one of the easiest hats you can make on a round loom. I used the 9 inch diameter, 36 peg loom, but you could use any of the sizes that are out there. I do recommend that you use a bulky yarn or 2 strands of worsted weight held together with this hat otherwise you might have gaps that you might not want. If you're using a different loom with pegs closer together, that may not be a problem.

In a recent video,, I showed off some scarves I made. Three of them were made with a long loom and they were made for a charity. Well, I decided to use some of the remaining yarn to make a hat. I was trying to catch up on Reign and Supernatural so I broke out the round loom and set to work.

Tada! Hat.

Can you see my cat Olive there in the background? My husband informs me that is her "Soon" face. She's adorable though...even if she does look like she wants to tear the hat apart. 

I'll be making more hats and scarves for charity (along with all of the gift giving projects I have on my list) so I'm going to be quite busy these next few weeks. It's all good though. When I use up yarn, I get to buy more after all! 

Easy Loom Knitted Scarf

If you saw my Finished Objects post, you will have gotten a preview of the scarves that I made for charity. Well, now I'm back with a tutorial for the loom knitted scarves shown.

Loom knitting is really easy and you can do it without having to count stitches or paying too much attention (great while watching Netflix, I can assure you). All you need is the loom, the tool to move the yarn, and a bulky weight yarn or 2 strands of worsted weight yarn.

I have been going through some of the older yarn in my stash to make scarves for charity and these scarves work up so quick that I'm sure I will clear enough space for all of that new yarn I bought recently (which I've already talked about here and here). I've been good since, I promise!
